Fundraising Un-asked Questions

Why independent schools need both
tuition and donations.

Many of you have been a part of the Summit family for years, and have experienced the ins and outs of each of these fundraisers. You have given time and money toward some, or multiple events each year. So why do we need to explain the importance of philanthropic giving?  We feel that there is an important message about what being a nonprofit means to Summit. Our goal for this booklet is to inspire and encourage you and your family to give even more to Summit than you currently do. We know that we are asking a lot, but we feel strongly that Summit is worthy of your time and money, and with your donations we will be able to continue to provide the best education we possibly can!

In the booklet you will see a list of current needs that we have at Summit, as well as a layout of all of the fundraising opportunities we offer. We will answer the asked and the un-asked questions of fundraising, and most importantly we will show you that - despite the tuition you already pay - we have needs that extend outside of that umbrella.

This year we have a huge goal of 100% philanthropic participation between Summit families, staff and board. We know that this is lofty, but we firmly believe that with your support this can be possible!

Summit Schools Establishes Thayer Summit Teacher & Staff Endowment

Summit Schools Board of Trustees recognized the establishment of the Thayer Summit Teacher & Staff Endowment Fund at its September 2018 meeting. Former board member and longtime school volunteer Bruce Thayer presented Summit with $100,000, the largest gift in the school’s 20-year history.

“Summit is extremely grateful to Bruce for his generous gift to Summit,” says Larisa Bickel, Director of Business & Management. “Bruce’s gift makes a strong statement about the commitment Summit has to its staff today and in our future. Our 20th anniversary fundraising theme is ‘Seeding Our Future,’ and we can’t think of a better way to recognize that than with Bruce’s meaningful gift securing Summit’s bright future in education.”

The Thayer Summit Teacher & Staff Endowment is held at Hills Bank & Trust Company and the interest from the endowment will go toward hiring and retaining highly-qualified staff. Thank you, Bruce!
